Handfuls of Sand

 I'm a handful of sand
You lose a little every time you move
Not that I won't gather
At your feet

And leave a trail
For you to follow
To where we met

Two years ago, I made a fourteen day trek from Istanbul to Ephesus and everywhere in between. Turkey introduced me to some incredibly memorable 'virgin like' experiences. I flew over what reminded me of sand dripped castle tops in a hot air balloon over Cappadocia and I danced in the hot springs of Pamukkale under her moody skies just because she was so beautiful. Her landscape is as diverse as her inhabitants and I think that's what I love most about her.  She made me feel like a writer, an endless wanderer  and a hopeless romantic. When I listen to this song (that I wrote and sing), I'm immediately transported to a coffee shop down some cobblestone alley way, sipping on a hookah whilst humming to the soothing calls to prayer.
